MSNBC anchor Nicolle Wallace and former Republican National Committee chair Michael Steele had a discussion about the impact of Donald Trump on American society. Wallace condemned Trump’s alleged affairs and his “hush money” trial, arguing that he is “making us so much dumber.” Steele agreed, suggesting that Trump’s behavior is debasing Americans and that the hush money trial is exposing his true nature.
Wallace’s condemnation came after Steele accidentally conflated Trump’s alleged affair with porn actor Stormy Daniels and Playboy model Karen McDougal. Wallace admitted that she tries to avoid making “Trump-Pecker jokes” on air, referring to the testimony of former National Enquirer publisher David Pecker in Trump’s hush money trial. Pecker’s media outlet deployed a “catch and kill” tactic to cover up stories about Trump during the 2016 election.
Steele suggested that the hush money trial is important from a cultural and political viewpoint because it exposes Trump’s character. He argued that Trump’s behavior is making Americans feel played and that the trial is highlighting his true nature.
