Trump Media & Technology Group Corp. (TMTG) is making a move to expand its streaming platform, Truth+, onto Android TVs. This launch, announced on Tuesday, comes just days before the upcoming election and could position the platform as a key alternative media source for viewers seeking different perspectives.
The Truth+ app, now available on the Google Play Store, offers a diverse range of programming, including news, entertainment, faith-based content, documentaries, and even children’s shows. The app’s launch has been met with a positive response from investors, with DJT stock surging over 7% on Tuesday.
TMTG isn’t stopping at Android TV. The company plans to roll out native Truth+ apps for other popular connected TV platforms, including Samsung, LG, Amazon Fire, and Roku. This expansion will make Truth+ accessible to a wider audience across various smart TV ecosystems.
The move comes as TMTG seeks to expand its reach in the competitive streaming landscape. The platform offers both linear TV channels and Video on Demand (VOD), providing users with a variety of content options. TMTG’s CEO, Devin Nunes, emphasized the importance of Android TV’s addition to the Truth+ platform alongside Apple TV.
As the rollout progresses, TMTG will focus on beta testing its ultra-fast streaming technology and gathering user feedback before announcing the completion of the rollout. Powered by a custom-designed, multi-site Content Delivery Network (CDN) utilizing TMTG’s own servers and software, this streaming technology aims to offer a service that is resistant to cancellation by Big Tech.
The launch of Truth+ on Android TVs could mark a significant step for TMTG as it seeks to establish itself as a major player in the streaming world. The platform’s diverse programming and commitment to offering a service independent of Big Tech could attract a substantial user base, especially during this politically charged election season.
