Trump Wounded in Shooting at Pennsylvania Rally, Still Plans to Attend Republican National Convention

Former President Donald Trump was injured in a shooting at a rally in Pennsylvania on Saturday. The incident, which is being investigated as an assassination attempt, occurred at the Butler Farm Show grounds, about an hour north of Pittsburgh. Trump was reportedly shot near his right earlobe, causing significant bleeding. Despite the incident, Trump’s campaign and the Republican National Committee (RNC) have confirmed that he will still attend the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee this week.

In a joint statement, Trump, his campaign leaders, and RNC brass said, “President Trump is doing well and grateful to law enforcement and first responders for their fast action. President Trump looks forward to joining you all in Milwaukee as we proceed with our convention to nominate him to serve as the 47th President of the United States.”

Trump himself addressed the incident in a text message sent to supporters through his campaign’s alert line. He expressed gratitude to the Secret Service and law enforcement for their swift response, and offered condolences to the family of a rallygoer who was reportedly shot and killed in the incident. He also detailed his own experience, stating that he felt the bullet ripping through his skin and experienced significant bleeding.

Trump’s eldest daughter, Ivanka, also responded to the shooting on X, expressing gratitude to the Secret Service for their quick actions and praying for the country. Her brother, Donald Jr., also expressed support for his father and shared an image of Trump giving a fist-pump.

The incident has sparked widespread concern and condemnation. The shooting highlights the dangers faced by politicians and public figures, particularly in the current political climate. The investigation into the incident is ongoing, and authorities are working to gather information about the shooter, who is now deceased.
