Following a disappointing domestic campaign, Thomas Tuchel is set to depart Bayern Munich at the conclusion of the season. According to reports, Manchester United has expressed interest in hiring Tuchel as Erik ten Hag’s potential successor. However, Ten Hag will remain in charge of United for their remaining seven games, and his future will be decided after that.
Ten Hag’s position at United has come under scrutiny after a humiliating FA Cup semi-final penalty shootout victory over Championship side Coventry City, despite holding a 3-0 lead with 20 minutes remaining.
Minority owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe is said to have contacted Tuchel, who he highly regards, regarding his plans for the 2024/25 season. Meanwhile, the Guardian reports that Ten Hag will remain in his position for United’s final seven games before a decision is made on his future.
Despite speculation about his future, Tuchel has stated that he is entirely focused on his responsibilities at Bayern until the end of the season. He guided Bayern to a 3-2 aggregate victory over Premier League leaders Arsenal in the Champions League quarter-finals, and they will face Real Madrid in the semi-finals next month.
