Tourism plays a vital role in Spain’s economy, contributing 12.8 percent to the GDP in 2023, with projections indicating a rise to 13.4 percent this year. TUI, a major player in the tourism sector, is expected to bring over six million tourists to Spain this summer, creating thousands of jobs across various aspects of the tourism value chain. Package holidays, a cornerstone of TUI’s business model, were also a central topic during the discussion.
Ebel emphasized the importance of collaboration between local communities, politicians, and the tourism industry in creating sustainable tourism practices.
