Turks and Caicos is experiencing a tourism boom in 2024, with record-breaking numbers of visitors arriving by air and cruise ship. March 2024 marked the busiest month ever for air travel to the islands, with the U.S. being the primary source of tourists. Cruise arrivals are also breaking records, with April seeing the highest number of port calls this year. May saw a massive 73% increase in cruise passengers compared to the same month in 2023.
The positive trend is expected to continue through August, with projections showing a predicted 24% year-over-year increase in arrivals. Turks and Caicos also boasts the highest occupancy rates in the Caribbean at 87%.
To accommodate this tourism surge, several new luxury resorts and residential developments are scheduled to open between 2024 and 2026. These include stunning beachfront properties, sustainable options, and the first Hyatt offering on the island.
The Minister of Tourism has stated that “Tourism in Turks and Caicos is at an all-time high.” The record-breaking start to 2024 follows a successful 2023, which saw over 1.5 million visitors.
Further solidifying its popularity, Turks and Caicos ranks as the most searched destination for U.S. couples and families on Google Flights. Solo travelers also list it among their top five summer 2024 destinations.
Overall, Turks and Caicos is experiencing a tourism boom with strong growth, new development, and a surge in popularity among American travelers.
