Attorney Timothy Bradl, representing blogger Aidan Kearney, accused special prosecutor Kenneth Mello of intentionally delaying discovery and keeping his client away from the high-profile murder case of Karen Read. Bradl claimed that Mello has shown “an abundance of delay and obfuscation” and is “hired to delay, to stop Mr. Kearney from getting anywhere with this case to keep him away from the Karen Read case.”
Mello countered, denying any wrongdoing and stating that he has not received any directives from the district attorney’s office. He emphasized that he is intentionally keeping distance from the district attorney’s office to avoid any allegations of conspiracy. In a press conference outside the courthouse, Kearney and Bradl reiterated their belief that the charges are intended to silence Kearney’s coverage of the Read case. They emphasized that they have not received all the necessary discovery materials and expressed their frustration with the delays.
Mello has stated that he has already produced the information sought by Bradl and attributed the delays to four separate medical issues he has experienced since before February. He has been given until May 8 to produce any outstanding information, with the next hearing scheduled for May 23.Kearney, known as “Turtleboy,” has written extensively about the Read murder case and maintains her innocence. He has alleged that the charges against him are an attempt to silence him and prevent him from continuing his coverage of the case.
