A train derailment occurred on Tuesday in the vicinity of Nagpur, Maharashtra, India. Two coaches, including a parcel van, of the CSMT Shalimar Express (Train No. 18029) derailed while passing through the Kalamna station. Thankfully, there were no reported injuries among passengers.
Dilip Singh, an official of the South East Central Railway, confirmed the incident to news agency ANI. He emphasized that the railway administration is working diligently to ensure all passengers reach their intended destinations. While no fatalities were reported, the official acknowledged that the derailment has disrupted train traffic, with further updates expected.
To assist passengers impacted by the derailment, the railway administration has established a helpline and is providing necessary basic facilities.
This incident follows a similar train derailment last week. On Thursday, eight coaches of the Agartala-Lokmanya Tilak Terminus (LTT) Express derailed at Diblong station, located in the Lumding-Bardarpur Hill section under the Lumding division. The NorthEast Frontier Railway confirmed that no casualties or injuries occurred in that incident.
