Two CRPF CoBRA Personnel Killed in Naxal IED Blast in Chhattisgarh

Two members of the Central Reserve Police Force’s (CRPF) CoBRA unit lost their lives in a Naxalite attack in Chhattisgarh’s Sukma district on Sunday. According to police reports, Naxalites detonated an improvised explosive device (IED) targeting a truck carrying security personnel. The incident occurred around 3 pm near Timmapuram village, situated between the Silger and Tekalgudem security camps, over 400 km from Raipur, the state capital.

An advance team from the 201st unit of the Commando Battalion for Resolute Action (CoBRA) had commenced a patrol from the Silger camp, within the Jagargunda police station’s jurisdiction. They were on a Road Opening Party duty en route to Tekalgudem, traveling in a truck and on motorcycles.

Naxalites triggered the IED blast, targeting the truck, which resulted in the deaths of constable Shailendra (29) and the vehicle driver Vishnu R (35).

Following the blast, additional security forces were rushed to the spot. Efforts are underway to evacuate the bodies from the forest. A search operation has also been initiated in the area.

Meanwhile, another encounter between security forces and Naxalites is ongoing in the forests of village Amjhar and Muhkot, within the Khallari police station area, since the afternoon. According to Dhamtari SP Anjaneya Varshney, several Naxalites have possibly sustained injuries in the encounter.
