Two Indian Flights Diverted Due to Security Alerts: Hoax Threats Investigated

In a series of unsettling incidents, two Indian flights were diverted on Wednesday due to security alerts. An Akasa Air flight bound for Bengaluru from Delhi was forced to turn back to the capital after receiving a security alert, while an IndiGo flight traveling from Mumbai to Delhi was redirected to Ahmedabad for the same reason.

The Akasa Air flight, carrying 174 passengers, 3 infants, and 7 crew members, was identified as QP 1335. An Akasa Air spokesperson confirmed the security alert, stating that the airline’s emergency response teams were monitoring the situation closely and had advised the pilot to divert the flight to Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi as a precautionary measure. The pilot diligently followed all necessary emergency procedures to ensure a safe landing in Delhi, with an estimated arrival time of 14:00 hrs.

Meanwhile, the IndiGo flight, numbered 6E 651, was also impacted by a security-related alert. An IndiGo spokesperson reported that the aircraft was isolated upon arrival in Ahmedabad and all passengers were safely disembarked. The spokesperson emphasized the paramount importance of prioritizing the safety and security of passengers and crew in all aspects of their operations.

Both incidents are currently under investigation, with authorities exploring the possibility of hoax threats. These events raise serious concerns about aviation security in India and underscore the need for robust security measures to safeguard travelers and ensure the smooth operation of air travel. The investigation into the security alerts is ongoing, and further updates are expected as more information becomes available.
