A horrific incident of sexual assault against a two-year-old girl has come to light in Thane district, Maharashtra. The incident occurred in Kalyan taluka, just days after a similar case involving the alleged sexual assault of two nursery school girls in Badlapur.
The accused, a 37-year-old daily-wage worker residing in the same area, allegedly kidnapped the girl from outside her house on Thursday afternoon. He then took her to an isolated location where he sexually assaulted her. The victim was reportedly crying and writhing in pain after the assault. In an attempt to escape responsibility, the accused handed the girl back to her mother, claiming that two individuals had abducted her.
However, the mother noticed something was amiss and immediately reported the incident to the police. Based on her complaint, Thane Rural Police swiftly apprehended the accused on Saturday morning. He was subsequently produced before a special POCSO court in Kalyan, which remanded him to seven days of police custody.
This incident has sparked outrage and raised concerns about the safety of children in the area. Authorities are investigating the case thoroughly, and the accused is likely to face serious charges under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
This incident comes amidst growing concerns about child sexual abuse, particularly in schools, following the Badlapur case. The Badlapur case, where two nursery school girls were allegedly sexually assaulted by a school employee, has sparked nationwide protests and calls for stricter measures to prevent such incidents. The Maharashtra Education Minister, Deepak Kesarkar, has proposed installing panic buttons in schools to enhance the safety of female students.
The authorities are investigating both the Kalyan and Badlapur cases, aiming to ensure justice for the victims and prevent such horrific incidents from happening again. The incidents have highlighted the urgent need for increased awareness, stricter regulations, and comprehensive measures to protect children from sexual abuse.
