Typhoon Signal 8 Triggers Safety Measures in Macao

In response to the activation of Typhoon Signal Number 8, the Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) has issued alerts to both Macao residents abroad and tourists within the city. The alerts, sent via text message, urge individuals to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions for their safety and travel arrangements.

To ensure timely updates and information dissemination, MGTO has made available comprehensive details regarding the weather situation on its official website and across its social media platforms. During the period when Typhoon Signal No. 8 or higher is in effect, the MGTO’s Tourism Hotline remains operational for 24-hour support at (2833 3000). However, all Tourist Information counters managed by the office will be temporarily closed, and both the Macao Grand Prix Museum and Ritz Building will be shut down until further notice.

The typhoon’s impact has also necessitated the temporary removal of the outdoor installation for the “Stay Chill, Play Cool – Macao!” project. Additionally, the Stay Chill Macao Market event has been cancelled. Furthermore, the initial two fireworks shows planned to launch the 32nd Macau International Fireworks Display Contest on September 7, including the Fireworks Carnival, have been postponed due to the severe weather conditions.
