Tyson Fury Eyes Replacement Fighter as Usyk’s Promoter Expresses Doubts

The highly anticipated undisputed heavyweight title fight between Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk is facing uncertainty, with concerns that Fury may once again pull out of the clash. Team Usyk has reportedly eyed Croatian heavyweight Filip Hrgovic as a potential replacement.

Alex Krassyuk, Usyk’s promoter, expressed doubts about the rematch, highlighting Fury’s history of postponing the fight. He noted that Usyk has been preparing for the fight for months, having set up camp in September. The fight, initially scheduled for December, was postponed twice due to Fury’s undisclosed injury.

Krassyuk also raised concerns about Fury’s motivation should he lose to Usyk. The undefeated British heavyweight hasn’t fought since his controversial split-decision victory over Derek Chisora last year.

Saudi royal adviser Turki Alalshikh has confirmed that both fighters will face a £10 million penalty if they pull out of the fight. This measure aims to ensure that the highly anticipated showdown takes place as scheduled on May 18 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
