Starting tonight, May 1st, U.S. 6 through Clear Creek Canyon will be closed overnight for tunnel inspections. The highway will be closed each night from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. The same stretch of U.S. 6 will also be closed overnight on Monday, April 30th, from 8 p.m. to 7 a.m. Drivers are advised to take I-70 as an alternate route around the closure. The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) says that the closures may change based on weather conditions. Updated information will be posted on the CDOT website.
The tunnel inspections are part of CDOT’s ongoing maintenance and safety program. The inspections will help to ensure that the tunnels are safe for travel. CDOT apologizes for any inconvenience the closures may cause and thanks drivers for their patience and understanding.
