Uber Introduces Enhanced Privacy Measures for Users
In the gig economy, where users and service providers interact through platforms like Uber and Zomato, privacy and safety concerns arise. Uber India is addressing these concerns by implementing proactive measures to protect user data.
To safeguard both riders and drivers, Uber is now actively deleting phone numbers shared in chats within the app. This move aims to prevent the accidental exposure of private information and potential unwanted contact outside the platform. The company has also deployed sophisticated detection mechanisms to identify shared phone numbers and issue warning notifications.
Additional Safety Features
Uber’s recent updates include Phone Anonymisation and Addresses Anonymisation. These features mask phone numbers and addresses during and after trips, ensuring that neither riders nor drivers can make inappropriate contact. Additionally, Uber has a 24/7 helpline to provide support and ensure user safety throughout their journey.
Insurance Coverage for Users
Uber offers insurance coverage for both riders and drivers in case of accidents or mishaps. The coverage includes payment of up to Rs 5 lakh in case of death or disability resulting from the accident, and up to Rs 200,000 for minor accidents. Uber India emphasizes that all rides are covered under its insurance program, providing financial assistance and peace of mind in the event of an unforeseen incident.
