Uber Technologies, Inc. (UBER) has announced the hiring of Rebecca Tinucci, a former Tesla executive, to oversee the company’s transition to electric vehicles. Tinucci, who previously led the 500-person Supercharging team at Tesla, will begin her new role as Uber’s Global Head of Sustainability on September 16th.
In her new position, Tinucci will play a pivotal role in driving Uber’s ambitious sustainability goals. The company aims to make all rides and deliveries globally zero-emission by 2040. This includes reducing plastic waste from restaurant deliveries and adopting more sustainable packaging.
Tinucci’s experience at Tesla, where she played a key role in securing charging-station agreements with automakers like Rivian Automotive, Ford Motor Company, and General Motors Company, will be invaluable to Uber. Her expertise in electric vehicle infrastructure and partnerships will be instrumental in facilitating Uber’s transition.
This strategic hiring further underscores Uber’s commitment to environmental responsibility. The company has been actively exploring ways to reduce its carbon footprint and promote sustainable practices within its operations.
