Recently, Russia has claimed the capture of the village of Sergiivka, located near the Ukrainian-held logistics hub of Pokrovsk. This victory marks the latest in a series of successes Russia claims to have achieved in eastern Ukraine this month.
The village of Sergiivka holds strategic importance due to its proximity to Pokrovsk, a key logistics hub for Ukrainian forces and towns in the eastern theater of war. For months, Russian forces have been steadily moving towards Pokrovsk, gradually taking control of surrounding villages. This week, they claimed to have captured two more villages near Pokrovsk: Lysychne and Ivanivka. The situation in Pokrovsk is increasingly dire, with the military administration issuing evacuation orders for remaining residents as Russian forces close in.
The administration announced on Telegram that Russian forces were just 10 kilometers away and rapidly approaching the outskirts of Pokrovsk. The ongoing battle for control of Donetsk, and particularly the strategic city of Pokrovsk, highlights the intensity of the conflict and the crucial role it plays in the broader war effort.
