Ukraine Claims Strikes on Over 30 Russian Oil Facilities

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky declared on Monday that Ukraine has successfully struck over 30 Russian oil processing and storage facilities. The Ukrainian military has intensified its attacks on Russian oil infrastructure this year, seeking to hinder oil supplies to the Russian army and diminish Moscow’s revenue stream for financing its war against Ukraine.

Zelensky addressed officers of Special Operations Centre “A” of the State Security Service (SBU), acknowledging their involvement in these attacks. “More than 30 oil refineries, terminals, and oil depots of the terrorist state have been hit,” he stated, without providing specific details or a timeframe. A video recording of his address was shared on his X account.

Ukraine has been utilizing its long-range drones, developed by both military intelligence and the SBU, for these strikes. “For SBU drones, a distance of 1,500 km is no longer a problem,” Zelensky emphasized, likely referring to a May 9 attack that targeted a significant oil processing plant in the Bashkiria region.

In the most recent attack, occurring on June 21, drones struck four refineries, including the Ilsky refinery, a key fuel producer in southern Russia.
