Callum Walsh, a rising boxer with an unblemished record, has joined the chorus of criticism surrounding the upcoming fight between boxing legend Mike Tyson and YouTube sensation Jake Paul. Walsh, who has been supported by UFC President Dana White, has expressed his disapproval of the matchup, believing it would damage Tyson’s legacy. Growing up, Walsh idolized Tyson, captivated by his intimidating presence. However, he finds it incomprehensible that his idol would return to the ring at the age of 57 to fight a boxer who rose to fame through online videos.
Walsh, who has remained undefeated in his 10 professional boxing bouts, believes that Tyson’s involvement in this fight would diminish his accomplishments in the sport. He argues that Paul, despite his growing boxing prowess, lacks the experience and credibility of a seasoned fighter. While acknowledging Paul’s knockout power, Walsh points out that he has yet to face an opponent with Tyson’s caliber and strength.
Paul, known as “The Problem Child,” has previously challenged Tyson to test his “Iron Chin” against his own. However, Walsh believes that Paul’s bravado may not carry the weight he believes it does. While Paul has not been knocked out in his previous fights, he has also never encountered a fighter with Tyson’s raw power. It remains to be seen how Paul will handle facing a true boxing veteran for the first time.
