Uncapped Jeremiah Louis Replaces Injured Kemar Roach in West Indies Test Squad for England Tour

Cricket West Indies (CWI) announced on Thursday that injured fast bowler Kemar Roach has been replaced by uncapped Jeremiah Louis in the West Indies test squad for their upcoming tour of England in July. Roach, who has an impressive record of 270 wickets in 81 tests, is currently undergoing rehabilitation after sustaining a knee injury while playing County Cricket for Surrey.

Louis, a 28-year-old player representing the Leeward Islands in first-class cricket, has earned his maiden call-up to the national team. With seven matches played in 2024, he has secured one five-wicket haul and seven three-wicket hauls, showcasing his promising potential.

Desmond Haynes, the West Indies lead selector, expressed his sentiments in a statement, acknowledging the absence of Roach’s experience and skill in English conditions. However, he also highlighted the well-deserved opportunity for Louis.

The upcoming tour will see West Indies engage in three test matches against England, with the series taking place in London, Nottingham, and Birmingham. This tour presents a significant opportunity for Louis to make his mark on the international stage and demonstrate his bowling prowess in the challenging English conditions.
