According to AccuWeather, New Yorkers can expect a mix of sunny days, sporadic showers, and unseasonably chilly nights this week.
Monday’s weather will continue to be cool and sunny. Although temperatures will drop during the evening, the skies will remain clear in New York City, according to AccuWeather Senior Meteorologist Bob Larson. Tuesday is predicted to be a slightly warmer and sunnier day than Monday, according to Larson.
“Monday’s high is barely 60, but Tuesday will be more along the lines of mid-60s for the high,” said Larson. “As we move towards midweek, a cold front is expected to come through, bringing some sporadic showers on Wednesday.”
It will be somewhat breezy on Wednesday and mostly cloudy, with temperatures ranging from the low to upper 60s. Wind speeds are expected to reach 15 to 25 miles per hour, on the cusp of 30, when the showers are coming through on Wednesday. Thankfully, according to Larson, the only precipitation for the week — a few rain showers, totaling a half an inch or less — will happen on Wednesday.
Once the cold front passes, it will be back to sunshine and cool, dry weather on Thursday and Friday, Larson predicted. Thursday will be breezy with a high in the upper 50s, the weatherman said. On Friday, the temperature will jump up back up to the 60s, according to AccuWeather.
“Friday looks very similar to today, with sunshine, a chilly start, and a comfortably cool afternoon,” said Larson. “While there will be no snow in the future for Staten Island, it is not out of the question that there could be some snow showers or snow flurries in upstate New York.”
The weather outlook for the week shows rain for Wednesday only this week, according to AccuWeather.
According to Larson, there will be some unseasonably chilly nights coming to upstate New York.
“It is conceivable that ski places in upstate New York and Buffalo could see a couple of snow showers or flakes, as this cold front is coming through Wednesday,” Larson explained. “There will be no snow accumulation in upstate New York into north of Syracuse and into the higher elevations north of Buffalo and up to Watertown.”
It will be partly sunny upstate on Thursday and Friday and it will be sunny statewide, Larson predicts.
