UP to Join League of 10,000 Medical Seats with 12 New Colleges

Uttar Pradesh is set to join the elite group of states with over 10,000 medical seats, as the state government aims to establish 12 new medical colleges. This will significantly increase the current number of 9,200 MBBS seats in UP.

The National Medical Commission (NMC) has received applications for these 12 medical colleges, which are located in districts such as Kushinagar, Pilibhit, and Kanpur Dehat. Inspections of the colleges are expected to take place soon, followed by a second round if any shortcomings are found.

This development is part of UP’s broader efforts to enhance healthcare infrastructure and provide accessible medical education to aspiring students. The NMC, the apex body regulating medical education in the country, has included UP’s applications along with those from 100 other institutions across India.

Once established, these new medical colleges will provide much-needed medical seats, helping to bridge the gap in healthcare professionals and improve access to quality healthcare services for the people of Uttar Pradesh.
