The US has approved a bill that will provide $60 billion in aid to Ukraine as it continues to fight against Russia’s invasion. The aid package includes $61 billion in military support, which will help Ukraine to slow Russia’s advances and protect its troops and civilians. The aid is expected to arrive in Ukraine within the next few days, and it could make a significant difference on the front lines.
Despite the support, some Ukrainian lawmakers have expressed concerns about the logistical challenges and bureaucracy involved in delivering the aid to the front lines. They fear that the aid could be delayed by two to three months, or even longer, before it reaches the troops who need it most.
Ukraine’s army is currently holding its ground against the Russian army, but experts believe that both sides are exhausted and unlikely to make major offensive gains until next year. However, Russia is continuing to push forward along the 1,000-kilometer (600-mile) front, using tanks, wave after wave of infantry troops, and satellite-guided gliding bombs to pummel Ukrainian forces. Russia is also hitting power plants and pounding Ukraine’s second-largest city, Kharkiv, which is only about 30 kilometers from the Russian border.
