US Refrains from Commenting on Alleged Assassination Plot against Khalistani Terrorist Due to Ongoing Legal Proceedings

The United States State Department has stated that it will refrain from commenting on the alleged plot to assassinate Khalistani terrorist Gurpatwant Singh Pannun until the allegations are proven before a jury. Spokesperson Matthew Miller emphasized that the investigation is an ongoing legal matter and that the department will not discuss it further.

Pannun, who holds American and Canadian citizenship, has been accused of making anti-India remarks and threats against Indian officials, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah. The US Justice Department has alleged that an Indian government employee recruited an individual named Nikhil Gupta to carry out the assassination. Gupta is currently in custody in the Czech Republic, facing extradition to the United States.

Indian authorities are also conducting a separate investigation into the allegations. The external affairs ministry spokesperson, Randhir Jaiswal, recently stated that a high-level inquiry committee set up by New Delhi is still probing the case based on inputs provided by the US.

Until the allegations are proven in court, the United States State Department maintains that it will not comment on the matter.
