US Senate Approves $95 Billion in Military Aid for Allies, Including $61 Billion for Ukraine

The massive $95 billion aid package includes $61 billion earmarked specifically for Ukraine’s military, which has been battling Russia’s invasion since February. The funds will be used to purchase weapons, train new recruits, and provide other essential military support. The bill also allocates $26 billion in wartime assistance to Israel and humanitarian relief to citizens of Gaza, and $8 billion to counter Chinese threats in Taiwan and the Indo-Pacific.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy expressed gratitude to the US Senate for passing the bill, highlighting the strong bipartisan support for Ukraine’s defense. The bill’s passage is a significant step in providing Ukraine with the necessary resources to continue its fight against Russia’s aggression. President Biden is expected to sign the bill into law on Wednesday, allowing the delivery of weapons and equipment to Ukraine to begin this week.
