US Travel Journalists Experience Dublin Pride and Ireland’s LGBTQIA+ Hospitality

A delegation of travel journalists and influencers from the United States is currently exploring the island of Ireland, hosted by Tourism Ireland, Fáilte Ireland, and Tourism NI. These journalists represent publications and online platforms with a significant LGBTQIA+ readership, reaching millions worldwide. Their visit coincides with Dublin Pride, allowing them to experience firsthand the vibrant celebration of inclusivity and diversity.

The journalists are eager to discover and showcase the diverse attractions and activities available to their audience. They will actively participate in the upcoming Dublin Pride Parade, adding their voices to the celebration. Alison Metcalfe, Tourism Ireland’s Head of North America, expressed enthusiasm about inviting the group: “We were delighted to invite this group of US travel journalists and influencers to the island of Ireland, to experience this year’s Dublin Pride and see for themselves what we have to offer LGBTQIA+ visitors. The articles and content they create and share will inspire their readers and followers to visit in 2024 and beyond.”

Their exciting itinerary featured a Lavender Walk Queer History Tour of Dublin guided by activist and journalist Tonie Walsh. They explored various attractions including Killruddery House & Gardens, the Game of Thrones Studio Tour, Hillsborough Castle and Gardens, Titanic Belfast, and The Maverick for the Open Drag Stage. Along the Causeway Coastal Route, they enjoyed breathtaking scenery before arriving in Belfast, where they engaged with local playwright Dominic Montague for Quartered: Belfast, A Love Story—an outdoor audio theatre walking tour illuminating LGBTQI+ perspectives in the city.

Tomorrow, June 29th, the journalists and influencers eagerly anticipate joining the Dublin Pride Parade to immerse themselves in its vibrant atmosphere.
