Uttar Pradesh gangster and scrap metal mafia Ravindra Nagar alias Ravi Kana and his girlfriend Kajal Jha have been detained in Thailand. The Noida Police, with the assistance of their Thai counterparts, apprehended the duo. Kana, a prominent figure in the Delhi-NCR region, operated a 16-member gang involved in the illegal procurement and sale of rebar and scrap material. He has been charged under the Uttar Pradesh Gangsters and Anti-Social Activities (Prevention) Act.
Over 11 cases, including kidnapping and theft, have been registered against Kana and his associates. A red corner notice was issued against him in January. Kana reportedly extorted businesses in the Delhi-NCR region and formed a gang to illegally acquire and sell scrap material, amassing significant wealth. Six members of his gang have already been arrested, and several scrap godowns allegedly used by the gang across Greater Noida have been sealed.
In February, the police attached 19 commercial vehicles worth approximately ₹ 4.31 crore and froze two bank accounts linked to Kana. The Noida Police have recently disclosed that they had attached assets worth over ₹ 120 crore of Kana and his associates. The arrest of Kana and Jha is a significant development in the fight against organized crime in the region.
