In a significant move to strengthen India’s logistics infrastructure, the Uttar Pradesh government, led by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, has announced plans to build the country’s largest logistics hub in Dadri, Greater Noida. The ambitious project, known as the Multi-Modal Logistics Hub (MMLH), will receive a massive investment of Rs 7,064 crore and is expected to play a crucial role in propelling Uttar Pradesh towards its ambitious target of a 1 trillion-dollar economy.
Spanning a sprawling 823 acres, the MMLH will primarily develop on 455 acres, with the remaining space dedicated to commercial and administrative facilities, as well as essential railway infrastructure. The strategic location of the hub along the eastern and western dedicated freight corridors ensures seamless connectivity for the transportation of goods and raw materials across the nation.
An official spokesperson to The Times of India explained, “This logistics hub will operate akin to a dry port, facilitating rapid movement of cargo through its integrated facilities such as container handling, warehousing, cold storage, and value-added services.” The project is being implemented through the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model, with the National Industrial Corridor Development and Implementation Trust (NICDIT) and the Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority overseeing its development. The Dedicated Freight Corridor Corporation of India has approved the development, which includes building terminal stations within the hub, along with approach tracks and a Rail Over Rail (ROR) bridge from New Dadri station.
Beyond enhancing logistical efficiency, the MMLH is anticipated to create numerous employment opportunities and foster new businesses in the National Capital Region (NCR). It will boast state-of-the-art amenities like rail platforms, customs clearance facilities, cargo handling areas, and ample green spaces, ensuring a sustainable and conducive environment for trade and commerce.
“The establishment of this hub aligns with our vision to transform Dadri into a dynamic economic center, harnessing the full potential of Uttar Pradesh’s strategic location and robust infrastructure,” remarked a government official involved in the project.
As construction progresses, stakeholders anticipate a ripple effect on the regional economy, with increased industrial activity and improved connectivity bolstering Greater Noida’s stature as a preferred destination for logistics and manufacturing sectors. The upcoming Multi-Modal Logistics Hub in Dadri is poised to revolutionize India’s logistics landscape, fostering trade and inclusive economic growth not just in the region, but across the nation.
