In a breathtaking display of technological prowess, UVify, a San Francisco-based company, has set a new world record for the most drones used in an aerial performance. With the certification of Guinness World Records, UVify’s dazzling display featured a swarm of 5,293 LED-lit IFO drones that danced across the night sky in Songdo, South Korea, just west of Seoul. The drones, meticulously choreographed, formed intricate formations that captivated onlookers.
The aerial spectacle took place approximately 10 miles from Incheon International Airport, requiring meticulous planning and coordination with air traffic control and local authorities to ensure safety and compliance. The IFO drones, known for their versatility and performance, boast a flight time of up to 25 minutes on a single charge and are adorned with LED lights capable of transmitting over 16 million colors. These capabilities enable spectacular shows that can be enjoyed from distances of up to 4.4 miles.
UVify’s bespoke software orchestrates the intricate movements of the drones, allowing them to form words, shapes, symbols, and even animations with precision. Robert Cheek, UVify’s chief operating officer, expressed his excitement over this milestone, stating, “Today’s achievement is a testament to our company’s dedication to excellence and our unwavering commitment to pushing the boundaries of synchronized drone performance.”
