Uzbekistan Airways has officially announced the commencement of direct flights from Tashkent to Goa, marking a significant milestone in boosting tourism and cultural exchange between Uzbekistan and India. The flights are set to operate twice a week, starting from October 27, 2024, connecting Tashkent to Goa’s Manohar International Airport (Mopa) via advanced Airbus A320 Neo aircraft. This new route is a testament to the concerted efforts of the Uzbekistan Embassy, tour operators, the Indian Embassy in Tashkent, and the Goa Department of Tourism.
The introduction of these direct flights is expected to significantly enhance Goa’s connectivity with Central Asia. Hon’ble Minister for Tourism, Mr. Rohan A. Khaunte, welcomed this initiative, emphasizing its role in strengthening cultural ties and positioning Goa as a well-connected destination.
Shri. Suneel Anchipaka, IAS, Director Tourism & Managing Director GTDC, further highlighted the growing global interest in Goa as a prime tourism destination, emphasizing the positive impact of this direct connectivity on the travel experience for visitors from Uzbekistan.
This new flight route aligns perfectly with Goa’s strategy to diversify its tourist base and promote the state as a year-round destination. The Department of Tourism eagerly anticipates welcoming a surge in tourists from Uzbekistan, showcasing the unique blend of culture, history, and natural beauty that Goa offers.
