Vance Accuses Harris of ‘Helping China Destroy’ US Auto Industry

Republican vice presidential candidate, Senator J.D. Vance of Ohio, has leveled a serious accusation against Democratic presidential candidate Vice President Kamala Harris, alleging that she is aiding Chinese companies in undermining the American auto industry. Speaking near the site of a proposed electric vehicle battery factory project by Gotion Inc., a company registered as a Chinese foreign principal, Vance stated that Harris and the current Democratic administration are actively contributing to the displacement of American automakers by Chinese interests.

Vance specifically pointed to the Inflation Reduction Act of 2022, which Harris voted for, as a key piece of legislation that benefits Chinese companies like Gotion. He claims the act provides millions of taxpayer dollars to these companies, allowing them to build factories in the United States. He further stated that even officials from the Obama administration had recognized the potential threat to national security posed by Gotion’s factory plant.

Vance contrasted this with his running mate, former President Donald Trump’s approach, emphasizing Trump’s pro-American energy policies and his focus on supporting American workers. He highlighted Trump’s commitment to bolstering domestic manufacturing and creating jobs within the United States.

The senator also touched on the ongoing debate surrounding the upcoming presidential debate between Trump and Harris, highlighting Trump’s insistence on a live event and his disapproval of the proposed changes to the debate rules, which he believes are aimed at disadvantaging Harris.

Vance further amplified his criticism of the Biden-Harris administration by referencing a letter from Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg to the House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan. Zuckerberg revealed in the letter that he faced pressure from the Biden-Harris administration to censor American citizens, particularly regarding COVID-19 content. Vance characterized this revelation as a bombshell, arguing that it exposes the extent to which censorship was employed to influence the 2020 election.

Vance’s accusations against Harris and the Democratic administration have sparked a heated debate regarding the role of Chinese companies in the American economy and the potential implications of their presence in key industries. This situation adds another layer of complexity to the already contentious 2024 presidential race.
