Velichala Rajender Rao Files Nomination for Congress from Karimnagar Lok Sabha Seat, Ending Party Stalemate

On Monday, Congress leader Velichala Rajender Rao officially filed his nomination to contest the Karimnagar Lok Sabha seat, putting an end to the party’s internal deliberations over the candidate selection. Joined by Minister for Transport and Backward Classes Welfare Ponnam Prabhakar and District Congress Committee president Kavvampally Satyanarayana, Rajender Rao submitted his nomination papers to District Collector and Returning Officer Pamela Satpathy at the Collectorate.

Prior to the nomination filing, Rajender Rao, the son of former Karimnagar MLA Velichala Jagapathi Rao, led a substantial rally in the town, accompanied by Congress cadre. Addressing the rally, Prabhakar vehemently criticized the BJP for employing political gimmicks to divert attention from the Modi government’s failures. He accused the BJP of intensifying its divisive tactics after the first phase of the Lok Sabha elections in an attempt to mislead the public.

Prabhakar also targeted the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), asserting that the party lacked the moral authority to seek votes after allegedly misappropriating public funds and causing financial distress to the state during its decade-long rule. He implored the electorate to overwhelmingly support Rajender Rao in the Lok Sabha elections to ensure the all-round development of the Karimnagar Parliamentary constituency.
