Venice Theatre Rebuilds After Hurricane Ian with $1 Million Donation

The Venice Theatre, which was hit hard by Hurricane Ian, is in the process of rebuilding. The theater has received a $1 million donation from Jim and Donna Boldt, who have been attending shows at the theater for years. The donation is the largest single donation the theater has received since the storm. The theater is expected to cost an estimated $14 million to rebuild. Construction crews are set to start pouring the foundation for the new main stage building next week. After that, the building should start going vertical. The theater is also working to retrofit other parts of the campus to keep classes, rehearsals, and performances going as construction gets underway. Executive Director Kristofer Geddie said, “We say we are like the phoenix rising from the ashes, but literally, we cannot wait to see this building rise.”

Donations have been coming in from the community to support the recovery efforts after Hurricane Ian. However, rising construction and equipment costs have impacted the cost to get the Jervey Theatre back open to guests. The theater is asking for continued support from the community as it works to rebuild.
