Verstappen Reveals He Raced With Blurred Vision in 2021 After Silverstone Crash

Max Verstappen, the reigning Formula 1 champion, has revealed that he raced with blurred vision in 2021 following a high-speed collision with rival Lewis Hamilton at the British Grand Prix. The incident, which saw Verstappen crash heavily at Copse corner, left him with lingering vision issues.

In a recent interview, Verstappen admitted that his vision was so blurry during some races that he considered retiring. He specifically mentioned the 2021 U.S. Grand Prix, where the problem was so severe that he seriously contemplated pulling over. He also revealed that the issue was so bad that he even contemplated turning off his car during the race. However, the quote was later removed from the Red Bulletin magazine.

While Verstappen did not go into detail about the nature of the vision problem, he did confirm that it was only present in 2021 and has since resolved itself. When asked if the problem was directly related to the Silverstone crash, he confirmed that it did not occur before the incident.

“It didn’t happen before. We are racing drivers. You deal with all sorts of stuff. Always here and there people have like little injuries or whatever. Those things happen. It got cured, luckily. I don’t want to go into detail, no one needs to know,” Verstappen explained.

Despite this setback, Verstappen managed to secure the 2021 world championship in a dramatic final race. This year, he is in dominant form, leading the championship by 84 points with 12 races remaining. However, he faces stiff competition from Mercedes and McLaren, both of which are showing impressive form.
