‘Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video’ Box Office Collection Day 7: Rajkummar Rao-Triptii Dimri’s Rom-Com Continues its Run

Rajkummar Rao and Triptii Dimri’s latest romantic comedy, ‘Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video’, is steadily making its mark at the box office. The film, which released on October 12th, has garnered an estimated total of ₹ 26.95 crore in its 7-day run in theatres till Thursday. This achievement is noteworthy considering the film’s budget of approximately ₹ 25.26 crore, indicating that it has already surpassed its initial investment and is performing well despite a gradual decline in its daily collections.

According to industry tracker Sacnilk, ‘Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video’ has garnered an estimated ₹ 5 crore overseas, taking its net collection worldwide to nearly ₹ 32 crore. This global success highlights the film’s appeal beyond Indian audiences. The film features an ensemble cast including Mallika Sherawat, Vijay Raaz, Tiku Talsania, and Archana Puran Singh in supporting roles. The plot centers around the hilarious quest for a missing “suhagraat CD,” following Vicky (Rajkummar) and Vidya (Triptii) on their comedic journey set against the scenic backdrop of Rishikesh.

On its opening day, ‘Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video’ achieved a net India earning of ₹ 5.5 crore, which rose to ₹ 6.9 crore the next day. The film’s first Sunday saw a net collection of ₹ 6.4 crore, slightly lower than its debut day but still impressive. The film’s first weekend collection reached ₹ 13.3 crore net. Despite the slight downward trend, the film continues to hold its own, outperforming Alia Bhatt’s ‘Jigra’ since its opening day. On October 17th, the film garnered a net collection of ₹ 1.75 crore with a 9.47% Hindi occupancy, highlighting its continued presence in the box office race.

However, the film has not been without its share of controversies. The use of characters and dialogue from Maddock Films’ ‘Stree’ franchise without authorization sparked controversy. To address the issue, director Raaj Shaandilyaa took to Twitter to issue an unconditional apology to Maddock Films. He expressed his sincere apologies for the unauthorized use of elements from the ‘Stree’ franchise, stating that it was an unintentional mistake on the part of the film’s team.

Despite this setback, ‘Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video’ remains a promising film, enjoying its box office success and resonating with audiences. It remains to be seen how the film will fare in the coming weeks, but its strong initial performance suggests a promising future for the Rajkummar Rao and Triptii Dimri starrer.
