Vietnam Airlines Expands Asian Flight Offerings from Munich Airport

Vietnam Airlines has significantly expanded its Asian flight offerings from Munich Airport, now providing twice-weekly flights to both Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. This exciting development marks a major milestone for the airline, solidifying Munich Airport’s reputation as a leading aviation hub in Europe.

Passengers will enjoy a comfortable journey aboard the state-of-the-art Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, which boasts a three-class cabin layout. Travelers can choose from Business Class, Premium Economy, and Economy Class options, ensuring a pleasant experience regardless of their budget. Flights to Hanoi, Vietnam’s vibrant capital, depart every Monday and Saturday. Those heading to the bustling city of Ho Chi Minh City, often referred to as Saigon, are scheduled for Tuesdays. From December 2024, the service will increase to twice a week, with flights to both cities available on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

With this expansion, Munich joins a select group of European destinations served by Vietnam Airlines, which already includes Frankfurt, London Heathrow, and Paris Charles de Gaulle. “We are delighted about the new flights by Vietnam Airlines from Munich Airport. The connections are a significant expansion of our Asia services and strengthen Munich Airport’s position as one of the leading aviation hubs in Europe. We are confident that these new direct flights will further enhance economic ties and cultural exchange between Bavaria and Vietnam,” stated Jost Lammers, CEO of Munich Airport, at the inaugural flight ceremony.

Vietnam has emerged as a top destination for travelers exploring Southeast Asia and is now among the most visited nations in the Asia-Pacific region. Bavarian businesses have recognized this growth and made significant investments in Vietnam’s economy. Additionally, partnerships in science and education between Bavaria and Vietnam are flourishing, further strengthening the connection between the two regions.

The inaugural flight was celebrated with a gathering of key representatives in front of the Vietnam Airlines Boeing 787. Among those present were Cao Chinh Mien, General Manager Germany for Vietnam Airlines; Nguyen Quoc Phuong, Deputy Director of the Department of Technology and Infrastructure; Pham Thi Nguyet, Director of Global Marketing & Sales for Vietnam Airlines; Luu Xuan Dong, Consul General; NGUYEN HOANG ANH, Chairman of the Commission for the Management of State Capital at Enterprises; Jost Lammers, CEO of Munich Airport; Le Duc Canh, Executive Vice President of Vietnam Airlines; Nguyen Tien Dat, Director of Sales & Marketing for Vietnam Airlines; and Florian Pötsch, Director of Route and Passenger Development at Munich Airport.
