Vietnam Shines at World Travel Awards, Winning Multiple Prestigious Honors

Vietnam has once again asserted its prominence on the global tourism stage, capturing several prestigious awards at the 31st annual World Travel Awards (WTA). The nation was crowned Asia’s Leading Destination, a title it has now earned for the sixth time in seven years, surpassing strong competition from countries like China, India, Japan, and Thailand.

Beyond the overall recognition, Vietnam’s individual destinations and tourism organizations also shone brightly. Hanoi was awarded both Leading City and Leading City Break Destination, while Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC) secured the titles of Asia’s Leading Business Travel Destination and Asia’s Leading Festival & Event Destination.

The WTA also celebrated the excellence of Vietnam’s tourism sector at a regional level. Quang Nam Tourism was honored as Asia’s Leading Regional Tourist Board, while Hoi An, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, secured the Asia’s Leading Culture City Destination award for the fifth consecutive year. Moc Chau was named Asia’s Leading Regional Nature Destination 2024, and Ha Giang made its debut as Asia’s Leading Regional Cultural Destination. Ha Nam was recognized as Asia’s Leading Emerging Tourism Destination 2024.

The awards ceremony held in Manila, Philippines, also acknowledged the remarkable achievements of specific Vietnamese locations. Cuc Phuong National Park in Ninh Binh continued its winning streak, earning the title of Asia’s Leading National Park for the sixth time since 2019. This victory placed Cuc Phuong National Park above global competitors like Japan’s Fuji-Hakone-Izu National Park and Nepal’s Chitwan National Park. Nguyen Van Chinh, Director of Cuc Phuong National Park, expressed gratitude for the award, highlighting the dedication of the park staff and the support of the local community.

In addition to these accolades, several prominent Vietnamese brands in the hospitality, airline, and travel agency sectors were recognized by the WTA. Established in 1993, the WTA is renowned for its dedication to celebrating excellence in the global travel industry, acknowledging top companies and destinations around the world.
