Vietnam’s Michelin Guide 2024: New Stars, Green Star, and Expanded Bib Gourmand

The 2024 MICHELIN Guide Vietnam, announced at a ceremony in Ho Chi Minh City, showcased a vibrant culinary landscape with new stars, a pioneering Green Star, and an expanded Bib Gourmand list. The guide features a total of 164 restaurants across three cities: Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, and the newly included Da Nang.

This year’s edition witnessed the addition of three establishments to the prestigious ‘One MICHELIN Star’ category. Akuna in Ho Chi Minh City, known for its inventive European cuisine infused with Vietnamese elements, and La Maison 1888 in Da Nang, renowned for its exquisite multi-course menus, were awarded one star. The Royal Pavilion in Ho Chi Minh City, elevated from the MICHELIN Selected list, also received one star for its Cantonese culinary traditions.

A significant milestone was reached with the first-ever MICHELIN Green Star awarded to Nén Danang. This accolade recognizes the restaurant’s commitment to sustainable practices and eco-friendly initiatives, showcasing culinary excellence alongside environmental responsibility.

The Bib Gourmand list, celebrating good quality, good value cooking, doubled in size from last year, now featuring 58 restaurants. Da Nang, with its vibrant food scene influenced by French, Chinese, and Southeast Asian culinary traditions, saw a surge in Bib Gourmand recipients, including Bé Ni 2 and Mỳ Quảng Sứa Hồng Vân.

The MICHELIN Selected list, recognizing restaurants with potential for future star or Bib Gourmand recognition, also grew to 99 establishments. Notable new additions in Hanoi include Bánh Cuốn Bà Hoành and Hanoi Garden, while Ho Chi Minh City welcomed Du Yên, Kobe Bistro, and Oryz. Da Nang’s new entries include Mỳ Quảng Cô Sáu, Năm Đảnh, and Olivia’s Prime.

The 2024 MICHELIN Guide Vietnam showcases the country’s dynamic food scene, attracting renowned chefs and nurturing a new generation of culinary talent. The guide highlights the diversity and quality of Vietnam’s cuisine, solidifying its position as a must-visit destination for food enthusiasts around the world.
