Vintage Rishabh Pant Yet to Emerge, Says Aakash Chopra

Despite making a remarkable recovery from a car accident, Rishabh Pant’s return to the Indian Premier League (IPL) as captain of the Delhi Capitals (DC) has not been as successful as many had hoped. Under Pant’s leadership, DC has lost five of their eight matches so far, leaving them languishing in the lower half of the standings. Former India cricketer Aakash Chopra has suggested that Pant may need to bat higher up the order to have a greater impact on the team’s fortunes.

Chopra acknowledged that Pant has shown flashes of his old brilliance, scoring 254 runs in eight matches with two fifties. However, he also noted that Pant’s form has been inconsistent, with his performances fluctuating between impressive and underwhelming. Chopra believes that if Pant can bat higher up the order, he will have a better chance of anchoring the DC innings and providing the team with a solid foundation.

Pant’s batting position has been a topic of discussion, as he has often come in lower down the order during DC’s chases. Chopra believes that this strategy may not be the most effective, as it limits Pant’s ability to influence the game. He suggests that Pant should be batting at number four or five, where he can have a more significant impact on the match.

While Pant’s batting has been the subject of scrutiny, Chopra was quick to praise his work as a wicketkeeper and captain. He believes that Pant is doing well in these roles but needs to step up his batting performance to help DC turn their season around.

With DC facing a crucial match against the Sunrisers Hyderabad, Chopra emphasized the need for Pant to make the right decisions, come in at the right time, and bat well. He believes that if Pant can do these things, he can lead DC to victory and inspire a resurgence in the team’s fortunes.
