Virgin Atlantic Celebrates 40 Years of Excellence

Virgin Atlantic, renowned for its exceptional customer service and vibrant brand identity, is celebrating its 40th anniversary on June 22, 1984, with a series of special initiatives and exciting new offerings.

To commemorate this milestone, Virgin Atlantic has unveiled a distinctive 40th birthday logo, echoing the iconic red stripe of its inaugural aircraft, Maiden Voyager. This logo will be prominently featured on various new products throughout June, symbolizing the airline’s dedication to standing out in the industry.

Passengers will be treated to a memorable taste experience at the Virgin Atlantic Clubhouse at London Heathrow, which opened in 2006. Upper Class customers can indulge in a special 40th birthday pale ale, brewed in Wimbledon using English Maris Otter and Cara malt. This exclusive beer boasts a zesty, smooth taste with a robust aroma.

Additionally, all Virgin Atlantic Clubhouses will offer the Maiden Voyager cocktail, a contemporary twist on the classic 80s ‘Woo Woo’ drink. Crafted with vodka, peach puree, fresh lime, grenadine, egg white, and peach bitters, this cocktail is sure to delight. The Clubhouses will also serve a delectable 40th birthday cake, featuring a red velvet sponge paired with whipped cream and berries. To enhance the celebratory atmosphere, popular 80s music will fill the air.

A highlight of the anniversary celebrations is a captivating display of cabin crew uniforms over the past four decades at the London Heathrow Clubhouse. This exhibition showcases creations by renowned designers such as Arabella Pollen, Elizabeth and David Emmanuel, John Rocha, and Vivienne Westwood, whose designs have been featured since 2014.

For the first time, the airline’s signature cocktail, the Virgin Redhead, will be available in all cabins. This refreshing beverage combines gin, mixed berries, lemon, and a splash of prosecco, offering a taste of the Clubhouse experience onboard.

Virgin Atlantic is also revamping its Mile High Afternoon Tea for the anniversary. The new menu features elderflower & blueberry scones, lemon and blackcurrant birthday cakes, and raspberry macarons adorned with the airline’s 40th birthday logo. These treats will be presented in themed trays or boxes.

In collaboration with Bottega, Virgin Atlantic is offering a limited edition prosecco in custom 40th birthday bottles, available in two sizes. These can be pre-ordered or purchased onboard starting in late June. This exclusive offer underscores the airline’s commitment to creating unforgettable experiences for its passengers.
