Virgin Atlantic recently announced the addition of a new long-haul route to its network, connecting London Heathrow (LHR) and Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ). Scheduled to begin on March 30, 2025, this daily service will mark Virgin Atlantic’s return to Canada after an absence of over a decade. The airline will utilize a combination of Airbus A330-900neo and A330-300 aircraft for this route, providing a comfortable and modern travel experience for passengers.
The London-Toronto flight will cover a distance of 3,556 miles, with a scheduled duration of 8 hours and 20 minutes westbound and 7 hours and 10 minutes eastbound. Award seats will be available for booking thanks to Virgin Atlantic’s award seat guarantee, allowing Flying Club members to redeem their points for this new route.
The resumption of the Toronto service holds strategic importance for Virgin Atlantic, as it not only connects two major financial hubs but also complements the airline’s existing network in India, including flights to Delhi, Mumbai, and Bengaluru. Furthermore, Virgin Atlantic’s expanded codeshare partnership with WestJet, effective October 2024, will provide Canadian customers with seamless access to regional destinations such as Ottawa and Winnipeg.
Despite facing potential challenges from competitors such as Air Canada and British Airways, Virgin Atlantic remains optimistic about the success of this new route, citing significant demand between Toronto and London, as well as the potential for growth in traffic to India. With a history of successful route launches, Virgin Atlantic aims to establish a strong presence on this new long-haul connection.
The introduction of daily flights between London and Toronto marks an exciting development for Virgin Atlantic and provides travelers with more options for convenient and efficient air travel between these two global cities.
