Christie’s is preparing to sell Vivienne Westwood’s personal wardrobe, which her husband and creative director of her label, Andreas Kronthaler, has curated. The auction will feature over 200 lots, covering four decades of Westwood’s influential designs.
The earliest look in the auction is from the designer’s FW1983/84 collection. The auction will benefit various charities, including The Vivienne Foundation, Amnesty International, and Médecins Sans Frontières.
“Vivienne Westwood’s activism, art, and style are evident in every piece she created,” said Christie’s Head of Sale and Director of Private & Iconic Collections, Adrian Hume Sayer. “This exhibition and auction will celebrate her extraordinary vision with a selection of looks that mark significant moments in both her career and personal life.”
A free public exhibition will be held at Christie’s London headquarters from June 14-24. The live auction will take place on June 25, and the online auction will run from June 14-28.
