Vivienne Westwood’s Wardrobe Treasures to Go on Auction

On April 22 (local time), the renowned auction house Christie’s announced that it will be auctioning the personal wardrobe of Vivienne Westwood. Over 200 items, carefully curated by her husband, Andreas Kronthaler, represent significant moments in her illustrious career spanning over four decades as a fashion designer. One of the earliest pieces dates back to the 1983-84 Fall/Winter collection. The auction will take place through a live event on June 25 and an online auction from June 14-28. Additionally, a free exhibition showcasing Westwood’s personal collection will be held at Christie’s headquarters in London’s King Street from June 14-24. True to Westwood’s philanthropic spirit, Kronthaler will donate all proceeds from the auction of fashion, jewelry, and accessories to the Vivienne Foundation, Amnesty International, Médecins Sans Frontières, and Greenpeace projects. Adrian Hume-Sayer, Director and Senior Specialist, Private & Iconic Collections at Christie’s, commented, “Vivienne Westwood’s activism, artistry, and style are embedded in every piece she created. This is an unparalleled opportunity to own a piece of Vivienne Westwood’s extraordinary world, while contributing to the charitable causes she was so passionate about.”
