Vogue India’s Forces of Fashion Awards 2023: Celebrating Indian Fashion’s Rising Stars and Legacy

The third edition of Vogue India’s Forces of Fashion Awards, held recently, served as a dazzling celebration of the country’s vibrant fashion scene. The event honored both emerging and established voices, recognizing their contributions to shaping the Indian fashion landscape. This year, the focus went beyond the glamorous facade, emphasizing sustainability, craftsmanship, and inclusivity.

A panel of fashion luminaries, including Rochelle Pinto, head of editorial content at Vogue India, Anaita Shroff Adajania, renowned image architect, Princess Gauravi Kumari, royalty and craft aficionado, and Padma Shri awardee Laila Tyabji, steered the evening, recognizing individuals who have pushed the boundaries of Indian fashion.

The awards highlighted the burgeoning talent pool within the Indian fashion industry. Vedang Raina, known for his effortless and refreshing take on menswear, was lauded as a rising star. Ananya Panday, celebrated for her versatile style and ability to infuse her personality into every ensemble, was awarded the coveted Breakout Star title. Avanti Nagrath, a fledgling supermodel gracing the runways and billboards of renowned international brands like Versace, Salvatore Ferragamo, Alaïa, and Dior, was recognized as the International Muse.

The event also paid tribute to sustainable practices and traditional craftsmanship. Re-ceremonial, a brand known for crafting garments from recycled textile waste, received the Craft-Revival recognition. Karishma and Avantika Swali of Studio Moonray and the Chanakya School of Craft were awarded for their excellence in ready-to-wear. Karan Torani was lauded for his exquisite couture creations, while Chamar Studio was recognized for its pioneering work in circular fashion and its commitment to empowering Dalit crafts.

Beyond the designers and brands, the awards also acknowledged the creative visionaries behind the scenes. Farhan Hussain, a photographer known for his distinctive style, was named Best Photographer. Jahnvi Bansal, a stylist with a keen eye for detail, was recognized as the Stylist of the Year.
