Vogue Italia Celebrates 60 Years of Fashion and Culture in Milan

The air crackled with excitement as guests gathered at the Palazzo Citterio in Milan for the opening of “Sixty Years of Vogue Italia: Sixty Years of the Future.” The exhibition, a celebration of the magazine’s 60th anniversary, was a testament to its enduring influence on Italian and global culture.

The Palazzo buzzed with a palpable sense of nostalgia and celebration. As guests wandered through the exhibition, they were greeted by sixty iconic covers, each representing a luminous year of Vogue Italia’s history. The murmurs of the crowd spoke volumes: “I was 27 years old when this cover came out, Madonna shot by Steven Meisel for the first time.” “I knew Franca Sozzani; she always seemed to teach me the value of freedom.” “Vogue Italia is an achievement—it represents all the efforts we have made to get here.”

The evening was a reunion of friends and cultural icons. Anna Wintour and Giorgio Armani graced the event, recalling the magazine’s role in the early days of Armani’s career. The city’s top design talents, including Sabato De Sarno, Glenn Martens, Alberta Ferretti, Luisa Beccaria, Maximilian Davis, Fausto Puglisi, and the Missoni family, joined the festivities. The presence of actors, singers, and athletes like Veronica Yoko added to the diverse and dynamic atmosphere. Of course, no Vogue Italia event would be complete without the models. Eva Herzigova, Amelia Gray, and Angelina Kendall graced the cocktail party, adding a touch of glamour and allure to the already sparkling event.

The exhibition, curated by Ferdinando Verderi, the creative director of Vogue Italia from 2019 to 2021, was a collaborative effort with the Pinacoteca di Brera and Regione Lombardia. Held under the patronage of the City of Milan and Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana, the exhibition coincided with the opening of Milan Fashion Week, making it a major highlight of the fashion calendar.

As the Curly Brothers’ music filled the air, guests enjoyed Martini cocktails and Marchesi’s custom cakes in the Palazzo’s historic courtyard. The atmosphere was electric, a testament to the enduring power of Vogue Italia and its ability to bring together the world of fashion, culture, and creativity. The night was a grand birthday party for Vogue Italia, celebrating its rich history and promising a bright future filled with continued innovation and inspiration.
