VOGUE JAPAN Celebrates 25th Anniversary with a Multifaceted Comme des Garçons Feature

Marking its 25th anniversary this year, VOGUE JAPAN continues to deliver exceptional content with each issue. The November edition dedicates a multifaceted feature to Comme des Garçons, one of the most influential fashion houses in the world.

The cover features a look from Comme des Garçons’ 2024-25 Autumn/Winter collection, aptly titled “Anger.” The collection, presented with stoic strength yet imbued with a sense of grace and tenderness, redefines anger, showcasing it not just as aggression but as a complex emotion. The cover story, titled “The Color of Emotion,” delves deeper into this concept, depicting clothing as living, breathing entities that move and evoke emotion.

Composed primarily of black, the 17-look collection reflects the current state of designer Rei Kawakubo’s emotions, both towards the world and herself. For VOGUE JAPAN, Kawakubo personally selected six looks from the collection, offering a glimpse into her creative process and the driving force behind her designs.

The issue also spotlights the iconic Comme des Garçons Aoyama store, which has stood as a beacon of Kawakubo’s vision since its opening in 1989. Through photographer Takashi Homma’s captivating photographs, the store becomes a space where Kawakubo’s messages unfold through each season, drawing in fans and connecting them to the brand. In an exclusive interview, VOGUE JAPAN dives into Kawakubo’s enduring philosophy, exploring what has remained constant in her artistic vision throughout her illustrious half-century career.

Rounding out the issue’s impressive content is a new installment of the ‘VOGUE Crush’ series, featuring the up-and-coming rock band LET ME KNOW. The trio, known for their nostalgic modern sound and captivating husky vocals, are captured in a retro setting, revealing their personal inspirations and passions. The feature explores the band’s artistic journey through a special interview, unraveling their unique perspective and the things that truly captivate them.

VOGUE JAPAN’s November issue promises a multifaceted exploration of Comme des Garçons and its legacy, offering a glimpse into the intricate world of fashion, art, and the enduring power of self-expression.
