Vogue Talks, a series of discussions featuring emerging Filipino creatives, returns for its eighth iteration on July 9th at the Samsung Performing Arts Theater. Previous installments have included insightful conversations with esteemed individuals such as Marian Pastor Roces, Marlon Rivera, and Sharif Hamza, exploring various aspects of the creative world. This time, Vogue Philippines has invited Imran Amed, founder, CEO, and editor-in-chief of The Business of Fashion (BoF), to delve into the past, present, and future of the business of fashion.
A leading voice in the fashion industry, Imran Amed’s journey began in 2007 on his London sofa. Initially a management consultant, he transformed his passion for fashion into a compelling blog that quickly gained traction. Today, BoF boasts a global reach with teams in London, New York, Paris, and Shanghai, spearheading initiatives such as BoF Professional, BoF Careers, and the VOICES conference. Amed’s insightful writing has spurred a new kind of fashion discourse, earning him numerous accolades. He was the youngest recipient of the Desautels Management Award at McGill University in 2014, and the following year, he was appointed Honorary Professor of Fashion Business at Glasgow Caledonian University. A decade after founding BoF, Queen Elizabeth II appointed him as Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) in recognition of his contributions to the fashion world.
Joining forces with Vogue Philippines’ editor-in-chief Bea Valdes and fashion director Pam Quinones, Imran Amed will offer a comprehensive analysis of the global fashion industry, providing valuable insights into market forces and consumer trends shaping its future. He will also share career advice for aspiring professionals.
