As Vogue Philippines celebrates its second anniversary, the Threads exhibit takes center stage at the Palais Galliera, showcasing the work of 25 Filipino designers. Co-chaired by Gino Gonzales and fashion consultant Jojie Lloren, the exhibit brings Filipino craftsmanship to the global stage, presenting a captivating collection of designer maquettes. These miniature dress forms bridge the gap between creative vision and full-scale execution, offering a unique glimpse into the heart of Filipino artistry.
The exhibit, situated within the renowned Palais Galliera, also known as “The Fashion Museum,” is strategically positioned in the heart of Paris Fashion Week. The participating designers represent both established and emerging names in the fashion world, ensuring a diverse range of voices. “We selected designers that have showcased craftsmanship and design sensibilities that could be represented on the global stage,” explains Vogue Philippines art director Jann Pascua.
The designers were encouraged to express their individual styles and themes while adhering to a specific guideline: utilizing natural fibers and locally sourced materials endemic to the Philippines. The resulting color palette, dominated by earth tones, echoes the country’s natural landscapes, grounding the designs in archipelagic inspiration and aligning with the global movement toward sustainability. The maquettes are arranged within the Palais according to shared techniques, forms, and silhouettes, allowing visitors to appreciate both the individuality of each piece and the unifying themes that connect them. Building upon the success of last year’s anniversary gala, the Vogue Threads exhibition continues to prioritize community and culture within the realm of fashion. “With Vogue Philippines, we always aim to surprise and delight audiences,” shares Suki Salvador, president of Mega Global Licensing Inc. “For Filipinos who are familiar with our work and for international guests, we strive to make it feel fresh and contemporary.”
