The Eiffel Tower glittered in the Parisian night as Chioma Nnadi, Vogue’s Global Fashion Director, and Casey Cadwallader, Creative Director of Mugler, hosted a spectacular dinner to kick off Vogue World: Paris and the Haute Couture Week. Held in partnership with Vogue100, the event brought together a vibrant mix of artists, musicians, and philanthropists at La Suite Girafe Restaurant, a glamorous eatery in the 16th arrondissement.
A cool breeze swept through the terrace, adorned with stunning summer arrangements, adding to the cinematic atmosphere. The sun lingered stubbornly until nearly 10 PM, casting a golden glow on the gathering. Singers Becky G and Normani were among those who came to show their support for the designer. Amina Muaddi, renowned for her eponymous shoe line, sparkled in a silver and black dress, while French model Cindy Bruna stunned in a cut-up red gown. Guests flaunted the latest designs from Cadwallader’s collections, alongside pieces from the brand’s rich archive.
Manfred Thierry Mugler founded the company in the 1970s, and his name quickly became synonymous with sexuality, rebellion, and glamour. After the founder’s retirement in 2002, the brand faded into the background. However, under Cadwallader’s masterful leadership, Mugler has reemerged as a major force in the fashion industry. The American-born designer’s architectural training is evident in his masterful corsetry and sublime constructions. Like Mugler before him, Cadwallader transforms the female form into an object of fantasy and illusion.
Chioma Nnadi, since assuming her leadership position at Vogue, has infused the magazine with an electric, youthful energy. Her recent covers, featuring FKA Twigs perched on a taxi, Sophie Turner defiantly staring into the camera, and Mona Tougaard and Central Cee dripping in diamonds, reflect an irreverent and invigorated perspective on the future of fashion.
The dinner, featuring grilled cod and truffle pasta, provided a perfect midsummer supper. Naturally, the topic on everyone’s lips was Vogue World: Paris. The electric excitement surrounding the event, a celebration of fashion unlike any other, taking over Place Vendôme the following day, gave the dinner a night-before-Christmas thrill. Guests buzzed with anticipation, swapping predictions and rumors about the many surprises in store. With its incredible mark on French and global cultural history, the house of Mugler is sure to be well represented.
This gathering of fashion’s brightest stars was a fitting prelude to Vogue World: Paris, promising a weekend of unforgettable fashion experiences. Casey Cadwallader, Chioma Nnadi, Cindy Bruna, Moses Sumney, Amina Muaddi, Farida Khelfa, and Georgia Palmer were among the notable attendees who added their own unique flair to the already dazzling event.
