As the Chef Partner, Chef Michael Anthony will spearhead a new era of culinary distinction, overseeing the dining experience and concept at Waldorf Astoria Hotels & Resorts’ flagship property, set to reopen later this year.
Situated at the iconic corner of Lexington and 50th Street, Waldorf Astoria New York’s two-story American Brasserie-style restaurant will captivate the local community, entice discerning diners, enchant global guests, and establish itself as a premier dining destination for Waldorf Astoria Residences New York residents. The restaurant will boast a bar on the first floor and dining spaces on both floors, including private dining options.

Chef Michael Anthony, renowned for his tenure at the acclaimed Gramercy Tavern in New York City, brings a wealth of experience and innovation to Waldorf Astoria New York. His approach to seasonal American cuisine has earned him accolades locally and globally, including multiple James Beard Awards such as Outstanding Chef (2015) and Best Chef: New York City (2012).
A published author of cookbooks like “V is for Vegetables,” recognized by the James Beard Foundation, Chef Michael Anthony is not only dedicated to culinary excellence but also actively engages with the community, notably supporting initiatives like New York City’s God’s Love We Deliver.

Chef Michael Anthony embarked on his culinary journey under the mentorship of Shizuyo Shima in Tokyo, Japan. He then honed his skills in France at L’Ecole Ferrandi, Paris. His professional path led him through esteemed kitchens such as Restaurant Daniel in New York before he joined Gramercy Tavern in 2006. There, he ascended to the role of Chef Partner in 2011.
